Here are some simple and easy-to-make homemade cleaning products to keep your rugs in tip-top condition. Since these are homemade cleaning recipes, you can choose to use all non-toxic ingredients or at least minimize the chemicals that are included.

Most of these homemade cleaning recipes are completely non-toxic, although some have ingredients that, while cheap, are toxic and need to be handled with care. Below is a summary of the ingredients used in the recipes.

Combine the water and vinegar to make a solution.

Saturate the stain with hairspray and let it dry.

  • 2 tablespoons vinegar (or 1 tablespoon non-Southern ammonia)

Combine water and vinegar to make a solution.

Dip a stiff bristle brush in the solution and brush the solution over the stains or dirt.

Rinse with wet towels.

Dry completely with clean, dry towels.

Moisten a cloth with white wine and rub it over the stain.
