Object lesson: all solved? – Sin is easily tangled

What do you need

  • Lots of toilet paper

Toilet paper games

  • Diaper derby – Divide the youth into boys and girls and give each group 1-2 rolls of toilet paper. Then each group should use all the toilet paper to create a mock diaper for someone on their team. The first team to finish wins.
  • Marble race – Using leftover paper towel tubes, teams should connect them and allow a marble to roll its entire length without falling. (You can add wrapping paper rolls, paper towels, etc. to make it even longer.
  • Mummy wrap – Create groups with three young people each in each group. Give each group two rolls of toilet paper. Two people wrap (like a mummy) the third person in the group. The object of the game is to see who can wrap their “mummy” the fastest with the full rolls of paper towels.
  • Over and under – Relay teams must pass the end of a toilet paper roll between the legs of the first person and then over the shoulder of the next person. When they reach the end of the line, they reverse direction to the opposite end of the line again until the paper towel comes to the front. If the toilet paper tears, they must start over from the beginning.
  • Roll drop – Be the first to hold an empty toilet paper tube six inches above a table and drop it so that it is upright and stands on one end. The secret: hold the tube horizontally before dropping it.
  • Filling – Each team receives the same number of paper towel rolls. At your signal, teams should fully unroll the toilet paper and tuck it into someone on their team’s jersey. The first team to completely unroll and fill the paper towel wins.
  • Take what you need – When the youngsters arrive, offer a roll of toilet paper and ask each one to take as much as they think they will need. If asked, just say that you’re running out of toilet paper a bit and want to make sure everyone has what they need. Once everyone has arrived, sit them in a circle and ask them to share a fun fact about themselves for each sheet of toilet paper. Variation: Each young person should say something positive about himself for each piece of paper.
  • Toilet paper hit – Teams of young people compete to see how long they can keep a square of toilet paper in the air by blowing it.
  • Dodge Ball Paper Towel – Take out the core of several rolls of toilet paper and then use them to play a game of dodgeball. If you are hit, you must sit down and be out of the game. But if a roll of paper towel comes within reach, you can pick it up and join the game again.
  • Paper towel fight – The objective of this game is to have the least amount of paper towels on your side at the end of the game. Give each team several rolls of toilet paper, count down, and then let the toilet paper fly for 30-60 seconds. Part Two: The first team to have their equipment completely cleaned wins.
  • Toilet paper rollers – You need two broomsticks and 4-6 rolls of toilet paper. You will need 3-4 people to hold the posts. Choose two teams of 2-3 children, usually boys against girls. Place rolls of toilet paper (ready to unroll) on broomsticks, (one per player) and with the command “ready” they begin to unroll the toilet paper. The first team to have all reels completely empty wins.
  • Paper towel label – Each young person shoves a piece of paper towel in a back pocket or in the trash of their pants. It should hang at least up to the person’s knee. On the march, players try to tear the toilet paper out of each other’s waste. The last person to lose it wins.
  • Toilet paper wrapper – Each youth team (4-8 people) receives two rolls of toilet paper and they must stand in a circle next to each other and facing outwards (ie with their backs to each other). The person holding the paper has to wrap the first roll around their waist a couple of times to make it stay in place. Then, without tearing the paper, you should pass to the next person to the right in the circle who does the same. If the toilet paper tears, the young person should hold the torn ends against himself and wrap the paper around his waste to cover this tear and hold the wrapper in place, and then continue. There is a strong chance that at least one player will accidentally drop the roll of paper. It is up to them how they decide to get it back, but they have to make sure the packaging of the entire equipment is not torn. The winning team is the first to hold up the two empty scrolls with the paper wrapped around them.
  • Toilet paper measurements – Measure various items in the youth room with sheets of toilet paper (ie 6 1/2 squares). Make a list of items along with their measurements. Then give the young man a list of measurements along with a roll of toilet paper. The young person must then, in a given time, identify as many objects as possible by their measurements on sheets of toilet paper.
  • Unrolled – Each player needs two assistants and a stick or broom. Place two rolls of toilet paper on each survey. Have the assistants hold each end of the limb pole. Using only their hands, players must unroll both rolls of toilet paper. The first player to finish both spins wins!
  • Unwind and repeat stroke – Teams compete to unroll a toilet paper roll and then re-roll it. They should not tear the roll of paper. If a roll breaks, they must use masking tape to reattach it. Variation: They must use their nose to unroll and roll the toilet paper.

TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Take a roll of toilet paper and wrap it around the two outstretched fingers of one hand. Use the entire roll of toilet paper. Then ask them to spread their fingers and tear apart the toilet paper roll. For most youngsters, if you’ve wrapped them up well and tight, they won’t be able to.

MAKE IT SPIRITUAL

Explain that this is similar to what happens when we are tempted and sin. At first it seems very light and easy to release, so we do not think we are in danger. But as we dive deeper into it over time, it becomes more and more difficult to break free, and it becomes more and more of a hindrance. Other sins, like a piece of rope, can bind and hinder us almost immediately, preventing us from doing what God wants us to do. In any case, we are soon caught and we cannot free ourselves.

Read Hebrews 12: 1 – “Therefore, as we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us cast off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles us. And let us run with perseverance the race that has been marked for us”

MAKE IT PRACTICAL

  • What are some of the sins that easily entangle us?

  • How can we free ourselves from the various sins and temptations mentioned?

1 Corinthians 10:13 – “No temptation has come upon you that is not common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out. so you can bear it. “

Romans 10: 9 – “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

1 Thessalonians 5:23 – “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely; and may all your spirit, soul and body be preserved without blemish at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he who calls you, who also has to.”

MAKE IT PERSONAL

  • What are the temptations and sins that easily entangle you?

  • How can you get rid of them?

  • How could God use you more effectively this week if sin and temptation hinder you less?

ADDITIONAL VERSES OF SCRIPTURE

James 1: 13-15 – “When being tempted, no one should say:” God is tempting me. “Because God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; rather, each one is tempted when he is drawn by his own evil desire and seduced. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is adult, gives birth to death. “
