Australian government scare tactics on gay marriage

To say that most Australians are disappointed and upset by the latest move by the Federal Government is an understatement. Most are simply stunned by the hatred he expresses towards gay people and the squirming tactics he is using to avoid solving the most important question right now. He has now declared that there will be a postal nerd to decide the issue of gay marriage.

If that doesn’t take your breath away, nothing will. It already has so many cracks that the quality of such movement is as good as a wet cigarette. Many people in remote areas of Australia do not have a PO Box because they do not deal in that type of mail.

Apart from the many issues that people have for or against the government’s decision, there are many other factors that come into play. We have a large multicultural community with people from many religious countries, such as Muslims and Catholics. That would mean that your attitude might be very much against such a move.

There is also the question of whether or not people will care to return their votes. Many are already stating that they won’t, and I personally feel the same way. There is now a challenge before the High Court, brought by a Tasmanian senator, Andrew Wilkie, and strongly supported by others, including a former High Court judge.

The cost of this nonsense is about 170 million dollars. Before you choke on your cookie, you also need to know that this government has squeezed every penny it could out of the country’s poorest. Unemployment and other social security measures have been reduced so much that many live well below the poverty line.

Their excuse is that the budget is so indebted that by taxing those who pay less more and reducing welfare, in addition to altering the Medicare system to save more money, they had to exercise these measures. As soon as one criticizes them for the mismanagement and bullying that is going on, they instantly blame the Opposition.

While this is called the lucky country, it is also one that has seemingly lost its way through dictatorship and stubbornness of government members. There have been some bad Prime Ministers and governments in the past, but at the moment they seem maverick compared to the current effort.

Although 26 countries have already passed laws allowing gay marriage, the absolute blockade on it is inexcusable and is based on religious ignorance.
