Business on the go!

With the technology getting stronger and better still in the future, the possibility of mobile business will soon (if you haven’t already) will take off. I’m not talking about mobile businesses in the form of mobile coffee shops or Hotdog stands at the soccer game or that sort of thing. I’m talking about a business model where you can travel around Australia in the hope of getting clients or a job. In setting up my business, I have chosen to serve potential customers and have the advantage of acquiring most of the equipment, devices, and skills required to use mobile-friendly fonts. So, I thought I’d share my advice with you.

Cloud Computing – Cloud Computing is Fantastic! You can upload your important files to an Internet server and access them from anywhere and anywhere. With Dropbox you can get a free account with 2 GB of data and for each person you refer you can get up to 8 GB for free, that is, 8 GB of free storage data. All you need to do is log in from a computer to access your files. The other benefit is that if you have an iPad or iPhone, you can download the free app and access your files from your iPad as well. I would be lost without Dropbox and Google Docs as I sometimes use three computers and if I can’t find the flash drive or hard drive that has the file I want to access, I can search one of my ‘Cloud’ accounts and log in from there. You can also edit Dropbox or Google Docs files, which means that if you edit a document from your laptop, when you log into your PC, the updated file will be ready.

My favorites: Dropbox, GoogleDocs, Microsoft Mobile Office.

Apple iPad / iPod: I have to say that the most wonderful thing I have recently bought is the new Apple iPad 3G. I am hooked. Buying this device for my business was probably the best thing I could have done when it comes to building a mobile business. Internet connectivity – There are now many options to access the Internet, including mobile broadband, 3G mobile networks, satellite Internet, access points, PIE Internet kiosks, and Internet cafes. With more and more access points for connectivity, you are sure to get some form of internet capacity in about 95% of Australia, making mobile business even easier.

Mobile phones – Your mobile phone may be one of the best devices you can get. With Smart Phones, Blackberry, iPhones and other mobiles, you can access not only the Internet, but also your emails, applications and all kinds of business and personal utilities that you can use while traveling.

Virtual office – There is a service that you can purchase that can help you manage your contacts and customers. What you do is pay a monthly fee to an agency (ServCorp) and what happens is, depending on the services you require; You can get a virtual address in a state capital city of your choice, where all your mail can be redirected there. A virtual receptionist can monitor your calls for you, and when you are in range, he or she can relay those messages to you so that you can call back when you arrive in the next city. Or if you need exposure in a different state, you can access a more business address in whatever state you want.

Telecentres – Telecentres should be the least used resource that you can use. They are in almost every city, they have office equipment that you can rent to use, you can print, laminate, type, surf the web, use the computer, use the fax machine, and all kinds of things that you would normally need in an office. setup, but not essential while on the road.

Check list – Below is a checklist that I came up with for running a mobile business. You can add to this list if you want or modify it to suit your own situation.

  • iPad and iPod
  • Laptop
  • Dropbox and Google Docs accounts updated
  • Mobile phone
  • Mobile bandwidth
  • Updated web apps and iTunes apps for iPad / iPod

So if you think a mobile business is the way to go for you, then take the plunge and give it a try, you will see that all the items you have in your own office can be easily improvised on the road, and you too can enjoy the style so much. of travel life as the business you always wanted.

Important: I recommend that you consult with your business advisor or the Small Business Development Commission in your local area about tax commitments, legislation, type of business structure, and other factors that you may need to consider when conducting a mobile business. . It’s definitely not for everyone and you may not be able to do it, so do your homework first!
