Gourmet coffee: when only the best is good enough!

Remember not too long ago when there were only two coffee options available, regular or decaf? Drinking coffee was quite simple in those days. When you invited guests to your home, the most you could offer them was a cup of black coffee or milk.

Today, however, the world is a much larger place offering a plethora of options.

Drinking coffee has become much more sophisticated. If you happen to be at your local coffee shop, you’re bound to come across an entire menu dedicated to a plethora of flavors and specialty blends that can be served hot or cold.

Gourmet coffee has essentially come of age, allowing those who like to enjoy a wide range of choices of the best flavors from around the world. As a general rule, gourmet coffee tends to be more expensive than regular types. However, I’m sure anyone who’s tried a few will agree that it’s worth paying a little extra for the unique and enjoyable experience of trying the different specialty blends. If you’ve never tried gourmet coffee, believe me, you’re really missing out on the pleasures of grown-ups.

As times have changed so have people’s tastes in coffee.

This is no doubt why coffee makers have become so popular with many people installing the machines in their kitchens so that they can brew their favorite gourmet coffee in just minutes. But the old favorite coffee presses are still used every day by many people like me who love their simplicity and easy cleanup and storage.

If you venture out to your local coffee shop, you are sure to get an education on the number of ways coffee can be brewed. Gloria Jean’s is one of my favorite coffee shops and some of their gourmet blends that might inspire you are Buttermilk Toffee, Creamy Chocolate Caramel, French Vanilla Supreme, Swiss Chocolate Almond, Hazelnut, and of course everyone’s favorite Irish Cream.

Coffee tasting can be a delightfully social experience and believe me you will never run out of varieties to try when coffees like amaretto, cookies and cream, chocolate macadamia and mudslide are part of the selection, just to name a few.

Today through the Internet there is a wide variety of cafes available. If you’re willing to be a little adventurous, I’m sure you’ll find a gourmet beer that appeals to your taste buds.

Sites are being set up as online coffee shops to sell the best quality premium coffee blends from around the world. Africa, South America, Italy, France, and even New Orleans are just a few of the places where these gourmet coffees originate.

If you’re trying to find a great gift for a hard-to-find friend or relative, why not put together a gift basket of specialty quality organic coffees? I’m sure they’ll be delighted – you can’t beat the taste sensation of a superior gourmet beer.
