Is the Focus T25 training program right for you?

My serious fitness journey began with a phone call from a TV station wanting to interview me. I had raised money for veterinary expenses for dogs injured in the 2014 Vilonia tornado. My first thought was, “I’m in really bad shape! I can’t get on TV!” Terribly vain and self-absorbed, but 100% true!

When I posted about my 10-pound weight loss on the cabbage soup diet on Facebook, a friend asked me what I planned to do to continue my journey. After all, he couldn’t live on cabbage soup forever!

He recommended me Focus T25.

What is the Focus T25?

Focus T25 was designed by famed fitness trainer Shaun T. It is a fast paced, highly intense, high impact program. It has ten 25-minute workouts, an exercise calendar, a nutrition guide, and a 5-day quick meal plan.

The base kit has two 5-week tracks, Alpha and Beta. An optional third track, Gamma, is available in the deluxe package or as a separate add-on later on.

My personal experience

I’ll be perfectly honest, this training was challenging for me. I’m not a big fan of intense cardio and prefer lifting weights to cardio any day of the week. There were days when I just didn’t want to get up and “press play”. And I lost count of the times I insulted Shaun T, especially when he talked about the “old” guy on the team (if he can do it, you can do it). I was a decade older than him!

The schedule has one workout a day for four days, then two workouts on day five. For me, this defeats the entire 25-minute-a-day sales function. So I opted to work out for six days instead of just five so I could keep doing all the workouts.

I followed A LOT of Tanya, the moderator, at first. At the end of 10 weeks, she had lost 8 1/2 pounds and 5 inches.

advantage

The only equipment used in this workout is a resistance band and it is included. You exercise in the privacy of your own home, on your schedule. There is a modifier to follow if the moves are too strenuous. The 5-Day Fast Track is incredibly helpful and became my “base” eating plan for all 10 weeks.

cons

Allow yourself at least 30 minutes. While the workout is 25 minutes, there is a cool down at the end. You may need to exercise 6 days a week instead of 5. If you don’t like cardio, you may not like this program. Again, this is a very intense workout and may be too much for some people.

I recommend?

Yes! It is challenging, but worth it. If you follow the nutrition guide and do the work, you will get results. Focus T25 isn’t for everyone, but while I’m not a fan of cardio, I am a fan of this program. I got good results, and isn’t that what counts?
