Reconditioned fishing reels, good deal or not?

Have you considered buying a refurbished or refurbished fishing reel? Sometimes, in order to have a higher priced or higher quality fishing reel that is built with composite materials, aluminum, graphite, or carbon products like the material the stealth bomber is made from, it is necessary to purchase a used one. Mainly, because a new real costs too much.

Well, I don’t know about you, but buying a fishing reel from a guy who had this expensive reel in the garage for a couple of years isn’t much of a comfort to me. Who knows where it has been saved or if it actually works as well as it claims. I would rather buy a fishing reel that has been used and then returned to the manufacturing company because they didn’t like it or something on the reel was not working properly.

The nice thing about buying a refurbished fishing reel is that they are returned to the company that makes the reel for reconditioning or just inspection to make sure it’s okay to resell. They may need to be replaced or may not work properly or just need adjustment. Sometimes refurbished reels are just returns from big box retailers that used them as display models. It may not have been a problem at all, it’s just been opened or tampered with by potential customers. The manufacturer can no longer sell the returned item as a new reel, so they sell it as used or refurbished. I also found that many returned reels are inventory clearance items or overstock at the end of a season. Most of these reels are in great shape. They may have some tiny scratches or teeth or some peeling paint, but they will work just fine. If they don’t, they back them with a 90-day guarantee! At least the revamped royals I’ve been in contact with do. I wouldn’t buy one without it. I also learned that a refurbished reel is only resold as long as it doesn’t have any internal damage. That real would not be resold. It was comforting to know. That’s the way to buy a used fishing reel!

Another benefit is that you can buy a refurbished fishing reel for 30% or more less than new. Plus you get a warranty backing its quality and refurbished condition directly from the manufacturer. That’s better than taking the risk of buying a used reel from someone’s garage with no warranty. So the next time you need a new fishing reel, don’t forget to check out the refurbished ones. You may be able to get a better quality real than the one you were originally going to buy for the same price you would spend on a new one. At least check them out and see what’s out there. Be sure to get a manufacturer’s warranty. Good fishing!
