Solariums: How much do they cost?

The most common question we are asked is how much do your solariums cost per square meter. We try not to be vague in answering, but here are the key things to know about sunroom prices in Dublin.

It is not practical to price these works per square meter and there are many reasons, just consider a few of them. A 12m2 sunroom and a 9m2 sunroom will have the same amount of plumbing and electrical work, both must have a radiator, several plugs and lights, the 12m2 sunroom is a third larger but will not have 1 and 1/ 3 radiators.

Many costs will remain the same for both sizes, the container may not be as full for the 9m2 sunroom, but the same will be charged. If both sunrooms are the same width, they will both require the same work and will lead to making the connection to the house wall waterproof. Why should one cost more?

The cost will depend on the insulation standard on the floor, but no one mentions this, so what if different companies specify differently?

The type of roofing will have a big impact on the cost of the room, with Ultrawarm roofing being the cheapest, followed by concrete tile roofing and then slate roofing.

The Velux number is dictated by the shape and size of the ceiling and the light requirements for the interior of the house, the more Velux the higher the cost.

Access from the house may already be there in the form of a back door or patio door, or it may require a window and wall to be removed to create an opening, or in some cases it may require a full knock and installation of RSJ. All of these jobs cost different amounts to complete.

In my experience, the client should expect to pay a minimum of €20,000 for a Sunroom, and the norm is in the price range of €25,000 to €30,000 for a medium size. For larger builds, expect to pay €130-€150 per square foot for a higher spec, including VAT.

So to calculate the actual cost of your new Dublin sunroom you need to do the following

Visit a showroom and decide on the right size and layout

Make an appointment with a qualified surveyor who will know which sunroom is best for your home

Create a list of the specifications you need

Ask for offers and compare prices, but remember that it is valuable to have peace of mind with the person you hire, follow your instincts and hire someone you can trust.
