Travel & Vacation Guide to Dalaman, Turkey

Shopping

There are excellent shops in the city of Dalaman. This is an essential part of your vacation to bring home a bargain from the traditional bazaars. After haggling over the price of a leather coat or buying designer clothes in the boutiques, you won’t be short of other shops and markets to visit that sell everything from exotic fruits and vegetables to traditional rug shops where they have some handmade rugs. quality hand. Outside of Dalaman there is more variety and many larger markets and bazaars.

Beaches

Dalaman has its own beautiful natural beach that offers the usual tourist water sports with jet skis and swimming in the warm turquoise sea. There are more than enough sun loungers to relax in as the heat rises above 30 degrees during the summer months and with plenty of drink outlets close by you can be sure to stay hydrated. A high sun factor is recommended especially for younger children. Malibu beach tends to attract a younger crowd, so it can be quite lively and not necessarily ideal for those with families.

Night life

Dalaman comes alive at night with entertainment everywhere from bars and restaurants to family entertainment like belly dancing at your hotel. There is a cinema in town, as well as a decent theater. For the young and lively, downtown is the place to dance the night away at one of the vibrant nightclubs playing international R&B, trance and hip hop hits. Note that the local Turkish men can be a little too friendly towards tourists, but they mean no harm. For those who want something less active, try “people watching” while enjoying a delicious meal from the variety of cuisines served in the excellent restaurants in the area.

things to do

There’s not much to do in Dalaman, but it’s a great place to start exploring the suburbs, where you’ll find so much to do and see you won’t know what to choose first. I suggest an excursion along the Kapda peninsula, where you can explore Byzantine architecture or venture into the mud baths. These are very popular, it is quite an experience and the children will love it. You can then scrub yourself in the local Turkish baths. For golf lovers, the Hilton Hotel has a great course. A must see is the ancient city of Ephesus, where you can see the gate of Hercules and the Temple of the Emperor Domitian. It is about a 4 hour drive from Dalaman, but well worth the drive. So is the one in Dalyan to see the loggerhead turtles that reside on the protected beach there. It is an ideal trip for wildlife lovers, as the area is also home to other wildlife such as the sparrowhawk. The most wonderful place which is about 53 km away is the city of Fethiye with the amazing rock-cut tombs. There are also other ancient ruins to explore in this city. For those of you who want something adventurous and exciting, Dalaman offers the popular whitewater rafting activity. Make sure you have safety helmets and a life jacket on this tour.
