Nascar Party Lights: Practical but Fun

One of the fastest growing sports today is Nascar racing. While I’m a huge sports fan, Nascar wasn’t something I paid much attention to in the past. However, with Danica Patrick making the switch from Indy car racing to Nascar, I may become a huge Nascar fan after all. When I talk to other racing fans, they seem to indicate that having a favorite driver is what really keeps you interested in the sport, so I guess it’s the same as having a favorite baseball or football team in that sense. Just like some great football fans throw Super Bowl parties, Nascar fans throw race parties. Of course, these Nascar parties, like all parties, require decorations. With lighting becoming an important part of any occasion, could Nascar party lights be far behind? Of course, no.

I would expect anyone decorating a racing party to start out the same way a fan of any other sport would. Adorn your home with memorabilia from your favorite team in addition to the regular team logo items that are available. I’m also sure you use some Nascar imagery and logos throughout so your guests won’t be too put off if they’re not fans of the same driver and race team as you.

When I thought about where to go to buy Nascar party lights, I started with an internet search and started at Amazon.com. What I found was a couple of generic string light offerings that included lights that represented checkered flags and a red and white race car. These and the other string lights I found consist of a set of ten lights with alternating covers on a twelve foot light chain. Like the usual string Christmas lights, they are built like an extension cord, so up to two additional sets of string lights can be added. Also available on Amazon are the rope lights which are white covers with the driver’s number painted in black. These seem pretty bland for a sport that likes to paint its cars in all sorts of flashy colors and schemes. On top of that, they don’t have Danica Patrick’s model, so I decided to go ahead.

An additional search on the internet yielded some better results in terms of finding light strings with covers depicting more authentically painted cars of some of the drivers’ favorites. However, the strings are not as long but contain the same number of lights. The cars I found in my initial search belonged to drivers like Matt Kenseth, Jimmy Johnson, and Carl Edwards. I’m sure a more thorough search will produce results that locate the cars of the most popular drivers. Since my search has yet to locate the Danica Patrick rope lights I am looking for, I will continue to put off purchasing my Nascar party lights until sometime in the future when Danica heads to the senior circuit and becomes more of a mainstream driver. main than just another pretty face.
