Static Caravan Buyer’s Guide & Information

October saw the final results of the annual static caravan ownership survey.

This annual survey targets feedback from new owners who have purchased a holiday home in a UK holiday park, and is considered by many to be the most comprehensive survey of its kind.

With the launch of many new “luxury” spec caravans, the average sale value of static caravan vacation homes continues to rise. New located prices now range from £15,000 to over £100,000.

Many new owners have reported that Static Holiday Caravan ownership has brought many lifestyle benefits over the last year including;

”Encourage more breaks with friends and family”

”Keep my husband away from the office”

”No more packing, everything we need is stored in our caravan”

”Friendship and community with other owners”

”Children love caravans!!!!”

The survey results also provide help and support to potential new owners as they can learn from people with real life experience. Hints included;

”Find the best ringtone”

“Rent, Rent, Rent”

“The facilities in the park are crucial for the owners”

“Don’t buy more than an hour and a half from your house”

”Why not shop with friends?”

As in previous years, the main negative comments came from owners who sold their static caravan shortly after purchase and suffered heavy depreciation.

Other concerns included van damage when subletting, high site fees, and the inflexibility of some vacation park ownership contracts.

A spokesperson advised: “Many people enjoy huge lifestyle benefits from ownership while subletting to subsidize the cost of ownership. We urge prospective customers to do as much research as possible prior to purchase to ensure they make the right decision for the long term. As with any capital purchase (like a new car), if you make the wrong decision and want to sell soon after purchase, depreciation becomes a factor.”
